long time since I did an OHC, Ive been mostly on 2hts, which u guys should try if u can....

I went as weird as I could, I compose using a notation software, using a weird chord progression, I use midi and also full on shitty synths I dont ussually use, later I added tons of weird things and effects I dont ussually use, I did a weird drum line, not using ez drummer (which was a mistake cuz for some reason people thought it was ezdrummer) I even sampled a little, and still some people guessed it was me. :(

I think my mistake was going the super weird route cuz all the time I make weird stuff, ugh it was pretty frustrating to lose... I hope I have a second chance someday, tho some people didnt liked the theme at all I did enjoy it.

hey guys, its been quite some time since I did one of this compos, so I decided to give it a shot since there were no other entries.

Mix could be better, maybe later I will try and fix it with more time.

man, Im really deppressed about this whole scarlett thing. I hope the guys in tech support can help me. (until now every recommendation hasnt worked)

oh BTW this thing sucks, is just me jamming (and I was really uncomfortable)

soo, after doing a lot (and I mean a lot) of stuff, trial and error and reading forums and a lot of bullshit, I manage to make the interface work. (for now)

In the master I tried a new aproach based on the discussion in reddit and some videos I watched. (I was going for a vintage tape master)

As always the guitar could be better, and I didnt manage to make lyrics (or steal them) for that theme, so no vocals still.

So, I did this with really little time, I was going for a little free jazz style.

well, long story short, I am having a lot of problems with my interface and computer, I even contacted focusrite tech support for help, following their instrucions I managed to make the interface work long enough to do this, I was happy; I thought I have fixed the problem, and then, boom ! it crahed again today, this sucks big time.

anyway....

the interface is working, for now....

soo, as soon as I finished the guitar part, the interface died, I have no idea whats going on, but I know for sure that I dont have any money to replace it.

I have a theory, today is been a speccially hot day, (fuck tropical countrys), I think that could have burn something in the scarlett

trying to improve the mastering stage using Ozone 5 , I did like 6 diferent master versions and I think this was the more balanced

Trying again a mix of synths and Strings, but with a less heavy and compressed sound.

the intro is another of sakuraba works, one of my all time favorite games: Tales of phantasy... while doing the guitar part I realized that both songs are very similar.

The idea behind the song was to make the guitar parts as if they were talking at the same time and to each other

It was harder to do than I initially expected.

1st part: the tempo is off in the two tracks and sometimes it aligns which I thoght it was fun, 2nd part: some experiment with guitar tones to try and achive a sound which is kind of similar to a saxophone.

I tried some jazz Fusion with a style change near the end, as always the guitar could be better, but is not terrible. the mix and the master I tried using some different plugins to the ones I normally use.

in the master theres 3 different compressors working at different levels. (so the overcompressed sound is on purpose to make it sound kind of muffled and heavy, which I think it works well with the sound I was trying to achieve)

I had a guitar planned for the second part, but I wanted to do something new and different, soo while I was whistling the melody on my way to the kitchen the idea came to me.

More experimenting with stuff, I use a lot of things I dont normally use inspired in a conversation with entoen and phippo last week

Experimenting with the master, stacking plugins and doing some weird choices. Dont know if sounds better or worse.

Anyway, I improvised with the guitar (clean) a little over the Mario and luigi track. I wanted kind of a Jam feel.
