TheVideoGamer - This track is basically another of my one chord vamps, or at least as close to a one chord vamp as possible. It's quite a smooth experience, with little to no changes happening, dynamics wise, and it mostly invovles weaving sounds in and out. There is 2 breaks here acting as the drums, with the main break being closer to a hip-hop sound despite it's 120bpm, and the 2nd is mostly just to add some hi-hat flair to the piece, and doesn't really function like a main break. The bassline and arp are the main components of this piece, which run throughout it's entire 6 minute run time, and the breaks will sometimes drop out and come back, but they also remain consistent. There is also heavy phase effects here to enhance the psychedelic trippy feel, to sort of co-inside with the glitter theme and make it a bit more sparkly. All in all it's not out of the blue from TVG, there is a lot of my classic ingredients here, but you can't deny it is a little different from me, i kind of like it. Oh well, glad you like it anyways!
DarkShadow - Cool filtered sounds, this is definately slow for a DarkShadow entry, or at least the intro is slow, it does pick up as you listen. The track is probably the most techno i've seen from you, usually you're known for making some Dubstep like sounds, but this is more raw techno synths here. The ending is the classic DarkShadow dissonant you are known for, maybe the most dissonant to date lol. I do like this, but it definately needs....a bit more structure shall we say, and less intense bass work, and we might have a winner. It's very cool sounding either way, well done!
jxsl - Interesting title lol, i like that bassline, it's got that sort of racing game vibe going on. Whole thing sounds live, like it was recorded on hardware, because it has a really distinct room reverb, that is interesting. The track is abrupt, just stops midway, but it's not a hard stop, more like the melodies just suddenly release. Had to play this a few times to get it, it's quite short. With stronger drum work, and maybe less intense room reverb, i would probably even see myself voting for this. The main melody was really nice, as was the chords. It just sounds a little in your face, less room to breathe per se. All in all though, a lot of fun, good job!
Wassup Thunder - Nice dark chords and thick beats. It sounds like a classic Wassup dance record, but with a really distorted melody, that is perhaps a bit too much for my liking i'm sorry. But you did make it with some sick bass work and chords. This one is quite the intense Wassup piece, but yet it's very melodic, with some really great synth ideas. The track has a great arrangement too, there is a lot of sounds coming in and out, especially filtered sound. The drums do get squished when more and more stuff come in, to the point where it sounds a bit clustered for my liking, but the track really hits hard with the melody ideas. A break or two could also work, but i'm not too fussed about that. Basically i think it needs a lot of smoothing, but as it stands, it's a sick track, with a great set of melodies, good job!
Nukage - Soft chords for the intro, it feels very gentle by Nukage standards, even though i know this is not a gentle Nukage entry lol. I love the pads, and how it slowly becomes more granular, and the buildup was sick. It didn't exactly hype me up like other drops do, but i immediately knew it was gonna be Dubstep. Some of the impact sounds were a little much, but the drop was killer. The arps were juicy as hell, and the snare was tight as hell. I do think a little more mixing could benefit here (It...was a bit loud and clipped), however as it stands it's dope as hell, and honestly i think it's enough for me to give you this one, well done!
Relax.D - Welcome back fellow 2HTS'er. Cool white noise sounds, the drums are quite industrial, but not loud industrial, more like distorted EBM like drums. Usually you're a rock person, so this is kind of left-field. I love the filtering going on, you are going to town on the filtering. Quite the experimental piece, the melodies are there, but they don't really stick out, and are more just working with the drums. As an experimental idea, it's fire, but some parts i feel we could do without, like the melody. I felt it got in the way, and added a bit too much high-end to the sound, but despite that, I actually really dig this, especially after repeat listens, it's quite unique, but very captivating. And it wasn't unnesscarily loud or weird, it was just a cool banger. Debated between you and DDRKirby(ISQ) for the 3rd spot, and in the end i chose DDRKirby, as i felt his fit the theme more, but yours was exceptionally good though, and quite unique, so it is still voting worthy. Awesome work!
Unknown Pseudoartist - Lot of tails here heh. Love the timpani fill, we really are feeling the RPG vibes with this one, the melodies are dark and ominous, yet strangely futuristic. Normally you go for the fast metal vibe, but this is very Metroid sounding. It's cold and calculated, and has more of an emphasis on texture over melody. The beat is wonderful, and the pads are very nice, but for this style we could go further than just a single note throughout, maybe reaching for chord changes to keep it exciting. But i understand this is more of a chill piece, than a melodic piece, so i don't mind it too much. I still think it has a lot of potential with it though, especially the end, but despite that i found more to like than dislike so i'll give it to you. Well done!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - Chill airy chords, we are definately in space for this one. The chords are awesome, because it's got some seasonings that really make me feel like i'm in the air. Drums are tight as hell, we definately are going for the EDM feel in this beat, and with how cool these chords are, it makes for a sick groove. Bassline just makes it even more funky. The melody is more of a background element in this one, even though i assumed it was more of a main melody. Either way, it's another top notch DDR beat, with some amazing chords, fire mixing, and some cool transitions. It's just hard to really critique sometimes, because you give me so much in 3-4 minutes, so many changes and melodies, and it's always so fire. Yeah i loved this one a lot. Debated between you and Relax.D for the 3rd spot, and in the end i chose you, it was awesome stuff. Amazing work!
obScene - Nice dark piano, very much a horror movie feel, especially with the reverb usage. It has the perfectly blend of dark and cinematic, but with an industrial edge, it's really great. This just totally screams cinematic, the string articulations and piano, it's just what you are known for, but done exceptionally well. I really dig the synths in the middle part, it adds a lovely creepy atmosphere, it's just great. When i made my track i went for a mellow happy vibe, you but you emphasised the more intense creepy vibe and i love it. So many sick changes, and variations on the melody it's insanely good. You are just excellent at bringing that cinematic vibe, but mixed with the hard industrial edge, the reverb was especially good this week. Absolutely fire stuff, so fire i ended up putting this straight on the top spot, it was amazing. Incredible work!
Misael.K - It's been a while since i've heard an entry over 5 minutes, besides mine, i'm all for it. My goodness it's quite the granular week this week, these synths have an insane level of texture to them. It feels like it's speeding up and slowing down, or you applied too many gross beats to even count haha. It feels very retro sounding, but quite synthetic yet hopeful. I feel like i'm uplfiting even though the synths are super experimental and granular. I like that in music, embrace the weird! Despite that, a faint square melody comes in that is quite normal sounding, turning this super granular experience into something quite melodic. It keeps on giving, yet it doesn't feel too much, or in your face. It's just extremely beautiful stuff to be fair. Really like the mallet introduced in the middle, it's a slow evolver, but with a lot of cool stuff provided. Yeah i don't need to say anymore, this was honestly wonderful, more than enough for the 2nd spot it was awesome. Incredible work!
Meistr - Return of the vocalists! Nice delayed synths, the chords are kind of chill. Drums are very tight, even if they don't make an overt statement. The track is quite deep and minimal sounding, but yet it sounds very tight and nicely mixed, quite the pump we have here. Vocal work is awesome, although it is a bit too deep in the mix, however it doesn't detract from the overall experience. The paino at the end was just lo-. Yeah it literally just stops not even at the end of a chord haha. The whole track is honestly just great, i couldn't really find much to critique, the vocal work is fire and mix is sick. Well done!
Arcana - Interesting swing here, it reminds me of one of the songs from a ThaSauce album i cannot remember lol. The kick is very punchy, and the arps are very swung and funky. There is a background melody that is nice, but not entirely in key unfortunately. I do like the energy here though, that melody is extremely nice. Some parts are really great from a melodic stand-point, i would just smooth a few things out, especially in the some of the synth embelishments. I dig the transition to the 2nd half though, it was absolutely fire. Vocal work was almost absent, until i heard your choir in the 2nd half doing a lot of pad voices. The arps got a bit repetitive at the end (Lol i say that as my track is literally one chord and looped bassline throughout, hypocrite), but i guess it's more unintentional/forced repetition that i tend to be critical on, rather than intentional yet natural. I don't know, it was a fire beat, with lots of potential for smoothing to make it even more great, i love it. Good job!
Top 3 - obScene, Misael.K, DDRKirby(ISQ).
Debated with myself between putting Relax.D and DDRKirby(ISQ) on the list, both are absolutely fire, and in the end i chose DDR's. Still, Relax.D was also worthy of a vote.
