Dex was just very oxygenated.

I like Darkshadow's gradual improvements in musicality.

TheVideoGamer - This track is basically another development in more minimalist styles that you've probably seen me do. It starts of with a simple motif, doubled with a bell, before the main melody comes in. The melody is based of a simple pattern that is repeated throughout, but notes are changed to give it subtlety. The ostinato and melody is repeated throughout as is the drums, which have been constructed in a way, so that it resembles a live kit kind of thing. The whole pattern lasts for 12 bars, with each bar having the drum part changed, to keep it interesting. I don't always copy and paste the drums to the bar though, thus creating a slightly off kilter groove. Every 20 seconds we get a new sound, be a simple bassline, a choir sound, tubular bells, or really just anything that can be used as a double. In the middle we switch to a double time beat, before it all climaxes at the end, to a fadeout back to where we started. When you think about it, it's really just a single chord piece, which i have done loads before, but this is probably the first time where it actually isn't just looped chords. I kind of like it, the concept is pretty cool. Either way, i tried something different. Oh well, glad you liked it anyways!

Draconiator - Yeah i'm sorry, but it's pretty unfair for you to generate a piece in AI whilst the rest of us is slaving away for an hour making a complete beat. I do appreciate original lyrics sure, but nothing was created from you. You just threw in a prompt on an AI program, and then uploaded it here. Like it's one thing to generate a sample from AI to use as a basis for a piece of music, but this is not that. No offense, but i'm not gonna vote or even comment on it, as it bares no relation to OHC, and instead should be in the sharing off channel. Good job.

Lyra_183 - Welcome back it's been a while since i've heard you sing. Great levels on the mic, and there is some really nice phrasing on the vocals. I found the cricket sound effects amusing. I really like the sort of amusing edge to the piece. I do feel like it probably won't match to a beat, because the tempo is a little loose here, but i feel that's done on purpose. It has a lot of potential, i liked this a lot. Good job!

DarkShadow - It always makes me smile to hear a really quiet entry, and then this insane distorted chaotic mess come from you afterwards haha. There is some really cool almost gliding effect in the synths here, but it's done a very dissonant sharp way, so maybe not the most pleasant on the ears. The melody is very glitchy, not much phrasing going on, however it was nice. Special props must be given for the really cool rhythmical triplet changes towards the middle, that is a new one from you (At least to my ears). I still think this is perhaps not my favourite from you, maybe i'm not used to nonstop unstructured chaos, but it was extremely cool nonetheless. Good job!

Jet Swole - Another welcome back! This will be the 2nd entry i've ever heard from you. You finally won over your body demanding you to go to sleep lol. I do like the Sega Genesis vibes here, i recognise that soundfont from a mile. Although i also recognise a lot of SNES sounds as well, i think you also used the SNES soundfont. These soundfonts are kind of iconic as the sounds are so unique to the font, that it makes every other Genesis styled soundfont so different. This track just keeps on building and building to the point where it was almost like WTF haha. I don't know if it was a Mario sound or what, but you doubled the melody with a synth or voice that is essentially a full semi-tone or tone apart, and that made it...quite dissonant. The idea is cool, but man the ending was just....all out i'll give you that. Granted i say this when my idea is more or less the same as yours (But written on a minimalism scale, reliant on one chord, and does it in a less direct/more subtle way). Either way it was cool, i never leave listening to every piece with any negative feelings, it's just some pieces work more for me than others. Again taste is personal, and this is just one guys opinion. Still though i did have a lot of fun on it, i really dig the idea. Good job!

DDRKirby(ISQ) - These synths remind me of an artist, but i don't know the name off. It's on the tip of my tongue, so i'm not making it up. Either way this does not immediately give of a DDR vibe, and i'm all for it. It's such a nice progression, and goes amazingly with the bass and beat. That flute melody is so inequivalently David Wise, it might has well be an unused piece lol. The only thing preventing this from being another Donkey Kong piece is the ambient electronica parts that plague my ears. The track is just very space like, chock full of excellent chords, and great melodies. I don't know how you do it, but your mixes are always just high quality. There is a lot of changes for over 3 minutes, and even with the video game influence, there is still a full on professional song experience to be had. I always try to be open minded and find critiques, but most of the time with your tracks, it's super hard, if anything almost non-existent, because you're just so good at this. Another exceptional DDR production. So exceptional i picked it for the top spot, incredible work!

Koekepan - Been a while we've heard a full beat from you, or at least what i call a full beat. The track is a bit of a slow developer, however it's not extremely minimalistic. It still has a lot of sound modulations from the really cool delay effects, to the great filtered bassline that sort of resembles a 303. The string pads make it eerie, closer to a desolate factory than a active one, but i like it. It's also needed, as i was worried this was gonna be a bit too...minimal. I don't want to say bland or boring as i find these are a bit too harsh, but there is definately an emphasis on bassline here, and not so much melody. At first i did feel like there is a bit of an absence on atmosphere, with a single string note not doing much of the lifting, but then a relistened and i felt drawn to it more, because the bassline is really good in this. I initially thought there should be more ambient parts, until me relistening made me completely abandoned that idea. Yeah no this one was actually really great, it grew on me enough for me to give you this one. Hell it was even voting worthy, awesome work!

Misael.K - Ah so that's why you didn't say honk. You know Misael has arrived when you say Honk lol. Hope you had a good time at the party, wherever you are! To be fair, a guitar or piano performance is good enough for me. I don't need everything to be flashy. As long as it's actual music and not a generated piece, i'm ok. I did like the phrasing of the melody here, you really know how to stretch just two chords in this piece. Especially if it's as good chords as this. I hear some faint synths in this, maybe there is an instrument you're hiding from us, who knows. I don't believe this is half-assed, however i do believe it was a little rushed (Both in the timing of the guitar, and in the overall piece itself). The quality is not the best for me, and even though the dialogue is really suited for this track, i still feel like better integration could work, as it didn't really add as much as it could have. I think this would have easily benefitted from simply more time. Simply using an hour over 30 minutes might have allowed for more polishing. Still though, this is miles better than some of my rush jobs, and i did really like the melody here, it was great. Good job!

LillyMeadows - Woah these are some sick chords. I feel like were in some Industrial Factory. Those are definately some techno chords. The chords are extremely moody, so in my opinion they don't go well with the beat, particularly in the middle, largely because you've opted for some extremely hard hitting bordering on clipping drums, that don't match the moody minimal feel of the chords. You also introduce a different synth playing the same chords, that is perhaps more suited, kind of like a trance lead, but that isn't as common, and still is getting pummelled by the intense beat. I don't know, i feel the melody material and the drums are apart of two separate worlds colliding. This type of track for me works with softer drums, or at least harder hitting synths. Still though the idea was definately sick, i liked it a lot, has potential. Good job!

Dex - No rock guitars this week? Is this the Dex i know lol. Those chords are sick, i feel in some ways were on a spaceship. The piano just makes this progression, adds a touch of emotional flair. It's not strictly electronic, but it does rely on quite a few synths, yet despite that it feels extremely organic. The flute and oboe like sounds were really great, yet i could tell they were not real. The cymbal swells were a bit unneeded, particularly for a piece that has little to no drums. It works if the timpani is consistent, but i guess for me it's just....not needed. Still though that is honestly super minor in contrast to the rest, because seriously, this was beautiful. You had a lovely dark progression, a wonderful melody, and a really nice climatic finish. It was also arrange perfectly too. It was too good for me not to give you the 2nd spot, i loved it. Amazing work!

Paradiddlejosh - I think from memory this is my first time listening to you, so welcome. This one is less than 50 seconds, so it's quite the short entry. Lots of sick metallic blips and bloops, all aided by a quite Hans Zimmer esq beat, played in a dark techno kind of way, than a thundering orchestral way. The arps are very sick, almost like raindrops, with a progression that has a lovely G note in it. Because of how short it is, there is very little time for developments, so it kind of ends suddenly, leaving me feeling like we could have had a bit more. The drums are great, and the arp is very cool, but towards the end we could have maybe added a melody or even a chord sequence. I don't know, i just find it hard sometimes to review short tracks because i just don't get much musical substance out of it. Sometimes if you struggle to come up with a new idea, copying and pasting works very well. Even if it makes the track more repetitive, i think it still works. Either way, don't be discouraged it was a sick idea, with a really sick arp sequence that is actually pretty cool, good job!

Meistr - Ooh a different vocalist. She sounds incredible, but to be fair, have you ever disappointed? The track is pretty dope, i do think the intro and the build-up is extremely underwhelming, I don't mean in the sound or melodies, more so in the mixing. The drums are way upfront, and the melodies are pushed backed. When the break before the drop hits, i was expecting a bar and then the drop, but instead you tease us with more build-up which is very redundant. I do like the drop, it's very hard, and has a lovely bassline, but the track itself isn't popping for a genre as hard as this. Again i must stress this is just me, after all i make unimportant reviews anyways lol. I just feel like there is a lot of smoothing to be done mixing wise. Still though it's not bad, the vocalist was the real highlight for me, she is incredible, and the mixing done to the vocal is extremely good. It has a lot of potential for me, don't be discouraged. Good job!

Arcana - Gotta love the classics am i right? Also a very short entry coming in under 50 seconds, but i assume a lot of it was spent on i suppose the melody, as with Jazz they don't really quantise anything, so it can probably be hard adding a loose piece into a DAW setting. You managed to nail the chords down, however sadly i think you might have gotten confused on the key signature, as i feel the melody is sung at a few tones lower than the chords, effectively creating polytonality. I'm not sure this was intentional, but i did notice it, as they're were parts that stuck out as dissonant. The backing was fire though, great drums, great chords and synths. You perfected the arrangement, it just needed a little more tuning, and smoothing in the voice. Still though, points for attempting a jazz standard, not always the easiest. Good job!

Coloradoweeks - Hi Late i'm TVG! You usually don't dabble into Industrial sounds, but i'm all for it. It reminds me of a stylophone for some reason, but a little more distorted. It's very hard hitting, but not loud or aggressive like you would typically expect for Industrial Music. Is Mr. Weeks featured here? Because i totally hear double tracked voices, that don't sound like your own, unless you've done some formant shifting to it, either way it sounds cool. For an industrial type beat, the mix is extremely dope, you've obviously made it hard hitting, but not loud at all. The ending does amplify your vocals, but still in a really nicely mixed setting. The only thing that did surprise me was the melody at the start. I don't know if it was me, but you added a few notes that did make a tad bit dissonant, however it all works later in the piece, with the harmonisations, so really it becomes better as you listen. Regardless i still think this is a sick piece, with a lovely hard hitting backing. Enough for the third spot. Amazing work!

Top 3 - DDRKirby(ISQ), Dex, Coloradoweeks.

Koekepan also deserves to be on the list.

Ok i wasn't expecting this many in the Needs Work section, that's unfortunate, however my critiques are genuine, and don't come from a place of inherent negativity. One day you might make your best ever beat, another day i might think there's potential. Either way, i'm just one guy with an opinion, so you can always ignore it, if you don't feel it's relevant. It's all in earnest. Still though, there's always next round!

Awesome - DDRKirby(ISQ), Koekepan, Dex, Coloradoweeks.

Needs Work - Draconiator, Lyra_183, DarkShadow, Jet Swole, Misael.K, LillyMeadows, Paradiddlejosh, Meistr, Arcana.
